The committee of Methadone Program Administrators (COMPA) of New York State proudly dedicates Regarding Methadone Treatment and Other Pharmacotherapies to Vincent Dole, M.D. and the late marie Nyswander, M.D., pioneers in the treatment of opiate addiction through methadone treatment. Drs. Nyswander's and Dole's distinctive mission and life work, dedicated to understanding opiate addiction and ministering compassionate care to opiate addicted persons, has helped enrich and indeed save the lives of many thousands. Their work in methadone treatment was honored in 1998 through Dr. Dole's receipt of the Lasker Award for Clinical/Medical Research, the most prestigeous medical award conferred in the United States. In dedicating this publication to Drs. Nyswander and Dole, COMPA reaffirms our highest regard for these two chrrished persons whos lives have touched and changed the world through thier landmark humanitarian work.
