OASAS Commissioner Speaks at COMPA Meeting

On May 5th OASAS Commissioner Arlene Gonzalez-Sanchez addressed a COMPA General Membership meeting held at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.  This meeting was very well-attended with nearly one hundred OTP staff present.  The Commissioner spoke extensively on subjects including budget cuts, Medicaid redesign, regulatory reform, APG implementation, alternatives to net-deficit funding, the role of pharmacotherapy in criminal justice settings, and unmet need for treatment.  After her thoughtful and comprehensive opening remarks the Commissioner fielded a wide range of questions from the audience.
We were also very pleased that Paul Francis from Governor Cuomo’s staff took time from his busy schedule to attend our general membership meeting and to briefly address our members.  Mr. Francis is spearheading the Governor’s SAGE Commission (Spending And Government Efficiency).  If you would like to read the full text of the opening remarks made by Commissioner Gonzalez-Sanchez click here.
