Biography

Allegra Schorr, MS serves as President of the Coalition of Medication-Assisted Treatment Providers and Advocates (COMPA). COMPA represents New York State’s Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), as well as providers offering office-based medication-assisted treatment, currently providing addiction treatment to over 43,000 New Yorkers.

 

Ms. Schorr has over twenty-five years of experience in delivering high quality, values-oriented healthcare and substance use treatment services. Ms. Schorr is an owner and Vice President of West Midtown Medical Group, an OTP, outpatient substance use disorder treatment program and primary care facility. All three co-located and fully-integrated programs meet the rigorous national accreditation standards of the Joint Commission. Through her efforts, West Midtown Medical Group became the first opioid treatment program to dispense buprenorphine in an OTP setting in New York State and one of the few programs in the country to deliver co-located, integrated comprehensive primary care treatment in an OTP. 

 

Ms. Schorr is proud to represent New York State on the AATOD Board and chaired the 2018 AATOD Conference in New York City.  She serves on a number of City, State and National Advisory Committees and Workgroups focused on policy initiatives and quality care issues including parity for mental health and substance use treatment.

 

Among these, Ms. Schorr serves on the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Region II Capacity Building Advisory Coalition, the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS)/Shatterproof State Advisory Committee, and the New York City Department of Health Regional Planning Advisory Board.

 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Schorr and COMPA were instrumental in advocating for and securing telehealth and bundled reimbursement amid changing regulations. COMPA also helped implement New York City’s first methadone delivery service which helped meet a critical need during the public health emergency.

 

Ms. Schorr has a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and MS in Healthcare Management from Rutgers University. Ms. Schorr was profiled as one of Today’s Leaders in the June 2019 issue of Addiction Treatment Forum and was listed in Crain’s Notable in Health Care for 2021. She frequently serves as a speaker regarding addiction treatment topics and has provided expert commentary to numerous news outlets.
